Vogh woke feeling better, but still not fully restored. She would need more rest, or magical intervention.

Their mission had been a success. The magical item was recovered, and they discovered the fate of the poor dwarf. They had only to return the item to the strange drow and collect their reward.

Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh woke and had experienced some weird dreams.  The drow that employed them and the drow they met were together and taunting the pair.  She woke in a sweat and smiled once she saw Talin.  Thank you for the breakfast.  What do you say we eat and then return the wand?

===========================================================
Narrator
———————————————————–
Talin was happy to get the wand sold and retrieve their reward from the drow Dularius Mul. A strange few days it had been indeed for the two bards to meet two drow after having gone their whole lives only hearing of the evil species of elves. The first had employed them, the second spared their lives and even helped them escape the trap they found themselves in.

Vogh was on the mend but would need several days of rest, which Talin was more than happy to enjoy himself. His road since reconnecting with this beautiful woman had been bumpy for sure, but more so lucrative and exciting.

They enjoyed breakfast in the room then cleaned themselves up. Both were versed with the prestidigitation spell which made life much simpler. With this small spell cash all the dust and dirt from the caverns fell off them and their clothes appeared clean and fresh. A simple hand and face wash in the room’s basin was really refreshing.

Vogh’s wound still showed through the tear in her mithral armor. She would need to spend some coin to get it repaired, or possibly even use her own magic. Thankfully her long hair and cloak covered this area on her shoulder.

Crossing the common room and exiting the door Talin made quick progress hailing a small carriage to take them across the city. A two wheeled vehicle instead of the much larger four wheel carriages stopped to allow them entry. A single bench seat faced forward toward the driver and horse team.

“Take us to the Red Stallion Pub in the North Market please. We would very much enjoy if you took the Emerald Hill route.” Talin informed the driver. The older man agreed and asked for 2 silver. One now and one upon arrival. Talin slid the coin through the small window between the man’s boots who readily snapped it up. Shortly thereafter the reins snapped lurching the carriage forward.

Like their previous trip to the Pub the travel was beautiful through Emerald Hill, the Temple District and into North Market. Less than half an hour later the Red Stallion filled the carriage’s right side window. Both bards disembarked and Talin paid the man the second silver owed him.

Ptolus’ light drizzle was barely enough to call rain that day, so there was no need to dash into the building. As before the door swung open smoothly and silently to the touch and the pair entered a nearly empty common room. Only a handful of of patrons were present, eating breakfast and sharing light conversation.

Both their eyes raised when they looked into the corner to see a lightly tanned elf sitting where they found Dularius previously. They looked at each other in recognition and amusement. Apparently the black skinned elf they met a few days prior was either not a drow at all, or was in disguise at the moment. The same white hair hung in his tight braid with those green eyes shining back at them. Plus the deep green robe matched Mul’s previous attire.

Talin and Vogh walked across the uncrowded room, noticing most of the patrons were also elves and not humans today, and greeted Mul.

“Sir, we have retrieved the item you requested and present it to you. Although I am sad to inform you the dwarf who had it in his possession was found dead.”

Dularis waved his hand at the information of the dwarfs death without a care and reached to accept the wand from Talin’s grasp. His green eyes focused on the item for nearly a minute with hardly a movement. Then he nodded and slipped the item into his robe.

“Excellent work! And in such a short time. You’ve earned every coin. Would you prefer 400 gold in gems or coin?”

Vogh
———————————————————–
The rest was helping Vogh.  She needed more time, but she knew they were in a time crunch to return the item to the drow.  Once they were all cleaned up, Vogh thanked Talin for all he had done and the both of them went downstairs.

When the carriage came and led them through Emerald Hill, Vogh just laid her head against Talin’s shoulder, her hand in his.  They had been through a lot together and she just enjoyed his being there for her.

Once the carriage stopped and they exited the carriage and entered the building, Vogh looked to the spot they had found the drow before.  He didn’t look like a drow now though.  He did have the same clothes so they both knew it was him.

When Talin handed him the wand and he waved off the news about the dwarf, Vogh felt a tinge of regret for not grabbing the body.  At the mention of their work and how they wanted to be paid, Vogh said 50 platinum coins is what you said when we took the job..  She thought then to tell him about the drow that they met but then thought again.  If you have any other work that needs to be completed, please do not hesitate to contact us at the Minstrel.

Dularius Mul
———————————————————–
“Ah. You caught that did you?” He drow, or elf, winked at them and nodded. “So I did. So I did. And I will honor that price.” Dularius snapped and one of the young women who sat next to him stood and left into the back of the pub. A few moments later she returned with a small leather bag that jingled with coins.

Mal nodded as Talin took the bag from the beautiful human woman then leaned forward and dropped his voice to nearly a whisper. “I would appreciate if you did not count the contents here. Fifty dragons is more than these folks will ever see in a lifetime. If you find it not sufficient, you know where to find me.” With that he leaned back and returned to his normal voice.

“You’ve done good work and I will certainly keep you in mind for any future endeavors.”

===========================================================
Talin
———————————————————–
Talin hadn’t remembered that Mul had offered 500gold before.  It was a good thing Vogh did.  Even in her weakened state, her mind was clear as could be.

With the deal complete and the dragons in hand.  Talin once again led Vogh outside.  What do you think about going to see Brother Fabitor.  Maybe he can help you with the poison?  Also I know we talked about it before, but I think looking for more ways to heal ourselves would be great.  I have heard about warriors wearing belts that could heal.  Maybe we could find something like that?

Vogh

1300….

Vogh was ecstatic that she remembered the amount.  Mul was surprised as well and that brought a smile to her face.

Once outside Vogh smelled the fresh air.  It was pretty clean with the rain that had fallen.  When Talin suggested Brother Fabitor she looked at him with thanks.  Yes, he might be able to help some.

Talin again hailed a carriage after they exited the pub. The drizzle continued, but with their cloaks pulled around them the mist simply rolled off. Just another rainy day in Ptolus.

The first driver to stop had a dual horse team and a standard four wheel carriage. Another silver piece and the two were rolling through the streets once more.

Back through the beautiful Emerald Hill they rolled, nearly a straight shot to Center Street where the driver hung a right and stopped in front of St. Gustav’s Chapel.

Entering the church the bards were once again fortunate that only three people were in front of them for healing. Brother Fabitor smiled upon seeing them enter and worked through each individual. Two humans and one elf needed mending. Each paid and the Brother healed their wounds with his god given magic.

Brother Fabitor Thisk smiled and shook Talin’s hand when they reached him. “My Miss Vogh, you do not look well. How many I help you?” When they explained her wound and subsequent poisoning he nodded. “I have but one restoration prayer requested today but I’m happy to bless you.” Closing his eyes the man focused and prayed quietly and Vogh felt the magical power flow through her body erasing all of her fatigue. She felt her strength flow back into her body and she was able to stand with no help.

15:31, Today: DM, for the NPC Fabitor Thisk, rolled 4 using 1d4.  lesser restoration.

After he tended to the young woman he perked up and was happy to see her fully healed. Several more people started to file into the building and he asked them to wait. The Brother lowered his voice but retained a happiness in his tone. “I wanted to tell you that Phon is doing very well still. It’s been a month since the incident and I’ve seen her a few times. She has come to visit me. Her belly swells with pregnancy, and she still will not reveal the father to me. Thank you again. No charge for today. Be blessed.”

With that he disappointedly steps away from them and moves to a half-orc bleeding rather badly from a wound down his left arm.

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
The news about Phon was good indeed.  The woman was a stubborn one and it wouldn’t be known probably ever who the father was.  Thank you so much Brother Fabitor, Vogh said as they could see that he was about to be very busy.

The both of them left and Vogh said.  I think we should look into what you suggested earlier.  Let’s head to the market.

Talin once again hailed a carriage and once one came the took it directly to the market and to find what they may.

It was approaching midday with all their traveling and the magical healing had caused Vogh’s stomach to start grumbling. But they proceeded to the Exotic market to find Inlios the gnome and inquire about belts that could heal them. Talin had heard about such an item from a halfling he crossed paths with. Despite both bards being able to use magic to heal themselves, some assistance was always welcome.

Inlios was his usual animated self at his cart. He hollered out at passers-by crying deals and beautiful items to be had. He hopped up and down on his stool when Vogh approached.

“missmissvogh. sogladtoseeyouagain. youvecomewithgoldforinlios? yes? yes?”

Talin described the magic item as it was explained to him and the gnome frowned.

Seeing Inlios was a sight for sore eyes.  It hadn’t been a long time, but the little gnome always put a smile on Vogh’s face.

My good friend, of course, I would like to know what you have for sale.  Vogh said with a wide grin.  After we will head to Delver’s square and see what we can find.

Inlios
———————————————————–
“Iwillkeepmyeyeforyoumissvogh. iwill.” Inlios excitedly reassured her. He went to the back of his cart, then came back around carrying a few items. “Maybeinlioshassomethingyou do want?”

He showed them several interesting items:

A Banded Agate Comb set with Moonstone, “A beautifulladyneeds a nice comb, yes? Maybeyoubuyforhermister?” Then he showed her a beautiful looking and very intricately carved pair of silver earrings inlaid with copper.

The little gnome produced several arcane scrolls of variable power and price. Arcane Scrolls of Cause Fear, Jump, and Spider Climb were the lease expensive.

“Theseworthmore. Much. More.” A Scroll of Invisibility Sphere and one of Fire Shield.

The final item Inlios brough out of a small, supple velvet bag. He held up a deep read, near perfect sphere between his two fingers. The little gnome’s smile nearly took in his ears as he opened his fingers and the stone hung in midair. Slowly it floated to his head then began to revolve around it in a lazy circle.

Inlios spoke very slowly and deliberately. “It is a eye-own stone. Helpsyoumovequickandbe niiiimble.” The smile never left his face. He struck a pose thinking he had really outdone himself with the showing of his wares, hand on hip and arm outstretched showcasing the magic, rotating stone. (Ioun Deep Red +2 Dexterity)

Talin looked at the comb and better yet he noticed how Vogh looked at the comb.  He could tell she liked it and he hadn’t seen her with one to this day.  How much is the comb?  Also how much for the eye-own stone?

===========================================================

The precious stone comb was a beautiful piece, but Talin wasn’t quiet prepared for the price the gnome quoted him, 600 gold. His grin nearly took in his ears when Talin asked about the Ioun Stone.

“Formissvogh and you sir. Eight Thousand Gold.”

Vogh
———————————————————–
Talin’s mouth did drop to the floor at the mention of the cost.  He looked at Vogh and shook his head.  I am sorry I can’t get the stone for you.  Would you like the comb?

Vogh smiled at the mention of the price of the stone.  Inlios, that is way out of our price range.  I am sorry about that.  Talin, I don’t really need a comb you know that.  It is a very nice comb Inlios, but as we said we are looking for something else.  I am sorry about that.  Tell you what, see if you can find us 2 mithril breastplates.  We could use more protection.

Vogh sadly parted with her friend.  Her and Talin then made their way to Delver’s square to check out the shop Inlios spoke of.  Along the way, Vogh laid back against Talin’s chest and held his hand.  Thank you for thinking of me Talin.  The thought brought a smile to my heart.

The young man smiled back at the beautiful woman whose company he had been keeping. 600 gold pieces for a comb? Insane, he chuckled to himself.

One of the most beautiful buildings in Delver’s Square is Myraeth’s Oddities, owned by the elf Myraeth Tuneweaver. He bills his shop as a place to buy and sell the strange trinkets and “oddities” found below the city, but in fact his shop is much more than that. It is, quite literally, the place for adventurers to sell what they recover on their adventures below the streets. From brass candlesticks to gemstones to antique spoons, Myraeth will assess and buy virtually anything. The important thing, however, is that Myraeth buys and sells magic items of all kinds.

Myraeth's Oddities owned by Myraeth Tuneweaver on Delver's Square in Ptolus the City by the Spire

Myraeth Oddities building is a stone building for the first floor then then has two stories of wood topped by the popular red roofing. Walking inside proves difficult with the press of people. Humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, then against all logic a huge ogre stands watching over all inside the shop.

The displays showcase wands, potions, rings, scrolls and more right alongside some “oddities” that range from Golden candelabras, to gemstones, silverware and all manner of trinkets and art.

An elf stood behind his counter stepping from side to side answering questions, making sales and handling purchases.

The people ranged from those in shiny armor and weapons that looked new, to those who had seen heavy wear and tear. It seemed the proprietor was no respecter of persons as he addressed every manner of humanoid with the same politeness regardless of their outward appearance.

Private to GM: Remember to make mention to Castle Shard being seen on a clear day.

Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh had awaited her turn to speak with the elven male behind the counter.  In the meantime, she had looked around at the oddities that were visible and also the people that came and went.

I sure hope they have what we are looking for.  They seem to have a lot of things here.

It wasn’t too long before Vogh then stood before the counter and the elf behind it.  Greetings, I am looking for two specific items they are belts that are capable of healing a person.  Might you have something like this she com?ented to the man.

===========================================================
Myraeth
———————————————————–
“I don’t believe I’ve ever seen either of you in my shop before. My name is Myraeth Tuneweaver and this is my shop. What might your name and business be today?”

Dark-haired with deep, smoldering eyes, Myraeth was a Shoal elf. Shoal elves were, by far, the most common type of elf in Ptolus. Most people simply called them “elves” rather than “Shoal elves.” Typical of the Shaol, Myraeth had his hair long and wore a robe of rich blues and greens.

When they explained what they were looking for he was already shaking his head before she finished the description.

“Miss Vogh, I’m sorry but any item that facilitates healing never even hits the shelves here. Potions, rods, wands, anything sell so fast, and often for far above their normal price. Are you familiar with the Dreaming Apothecary?”

Of course Vogh knew of the strange, elusive group of magic users. She even had that small “mission” with Inlios regarding the organization. Her family had also spent a fair bit of coin with them over the years to have certain magic items created, or existing ones modified. She did not relish the idea of working with them as they were quite strange, and there was a bit of danger surrounding them.

“They can custom make any magic item you want, but it’s going to cost. Here in the square you can go to Danbury’s and there is almost always a representative present who can give you a price idea.”

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Well, I thank you for your information and hopefully, we can conduct business some other time.  With that Vogh and Talin exited the shop.

Vogh turned to Talin and said, The Dreaming Apothecary, great.  I was hoping that we wouldn’t have to deal with them but as he said they are the best source for this.  Let’s go ahead and check out Danbury’s.

Vogh and Talin quickly made their way over to Danbury’s to see if the contact was there for DA.

Talin followed close behind making sure that they weren’t being followed by any one.

===========================================================
Narrator
———————————————————–
Vogh and Talin made it across the crowded Delver’s Square. The large statue rose above them in front of the pool of water. Behind the statue was the stair descending below the earth with people constantly entering and exiting the Undercity Market.

Danbury’s had a large sign above the door making it easy to identify.

They entered and with the door closing, the noise of the bustling square immediately disappeared. Being midday the tavern was not busy, but several people sat around talking, eating and drinking.

Artwork was displayed all over the building. Paintings hang on the walls and small sculptures sit on the bar or in niches in the walls.

A burly chested dwarf stood behind the bar and must have been on a stool or ledge because he was nearly as tall as a human would be in the same spot.

Unlike most of the taverns in town, this one seemed to be more refined. None of the patrons carried weapons or wore armor. Instead nearly all were wearing robes or loose fitting, fine clothing.

There was a lone, young human sitting at what could only be described as a desk where everyone else sat at tables. He had several pieces of parchment out which he scribbled on then moved to the next. Dressed in a stylish coat of a deep red, buttoned to the throat and sporting a high collar, his perfectly groomed dark hair and handsome goatee complimented golden eyes.

The bards approached him and asked if he was the Dreaming Apothecary representative. He confirmed, introducing himself as Neban, and asked them to take a seat at the two available chairs. Plushly cushioned and made of good leather with high arms they were both able to sit comfortably, after removing their swords and leaning them against the desk from.

He handed vogh a small bronze token with the image of a human man’s face on one side—his eyes closed, as though asleep—and a female elf’s face on the other, her eyes likewise closed.

“These tokens make it possible for you to contact the Dreaming Apothecary and order any form of magical item your mind can conjure and your pocketbook can handle.” Neban explained.

“The Dreaming Apothecary does not already have magical items. They are a group of powerful individuals who custom create magic items here in Ptolus and all over the world. You need only to place the token under your pillow or bed when you go to sleep. The Dreaming Apothecary will contact you in your dreams. You need to have the funds needed for the transaction in your possession or gathered in a secure place. Since you know what you want, the first contact will determine that price. If you cannot afford the cost, you can always contact later.”

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh took the two tokens and said her goodbye to Neben.  She had heard a little about how this was done and knew that the charge may be a little higher than normal, but that is what you get for having to deal with The Dreaming Apothecary.

Vogh turned and nodded to Talin and both left and since they were right across the way to The Ghostly Minstrel it wasn’t a terribly difficult trip.  By now the time was nearing mid-afternoon and Vogh was hungry.  So she asked Talin to join her for a bite to eat before heading back up to their room.

Having not had a great meal in a few days, Vogh ordered some beef and potatoes and a good red wine to wash it all down with.  When the meal came and was finished by the both of them, Vogh and Talin retired to their room.  Though it was still pretty early they decided to have some fun…..

Later on that evening Vogh gave Talin his token and told him to think of how he wanted the belt designed for him.  When they went to bed they both placed their tokens under the down pillows on the bed and went to sleep.

That night, as both slept, a being came to each in their dreams. There was no identifying aspects of the shifting vision. Male or female, tall or short, the shadow of a person spoke to both. The being was aware of both Talin and Vogh, so it told them.

Upon explanation of the items wanted the specter quoted the combined price of 1600 gold. The timeline was one week and the funds were required entirely upfront.

It asks each if they have the funds available and then asks for the physical location of the payment.

Vogh

Vogh didn’t even remember the dream of the one that came to her that night.  She imparted to the being where it could find the funds for the belt she had dreamt about.

Talin likewise imparted where to find the funds for his belt.

When Vogh lazily woke in the morning she faintly remember the dream she had.  She rolled over to Talin and gave him a gentle kiss before getting out of bed.

When she went to her pack she noticed after a moment that the gold she had been told was the cost for the belt, was gone.  Nothing seemed out of place and as she looked about the room she saw the window was still shut and latched.

Talin check you things and see if the funds for the belt is gone.

When he checked and nodded in agreement.  Vogh smiled.  That is quite the process they have to conduct their business.

Talin confirmed the funds were equally missing with nothing disturbed.

“Well, hopefully the belts will be worth the cost…” Talin frowned, uncertain about getting involved in dealings with such a powerful group.

Private to GM: DATE/TIME UPDATE: It’s now been 31 days since they rescued Phon. 1st day since they ordered from D.A. Their belts will be ready in 6 more days. I forgot to mention Phon meeting them when they returned from Danbury’s. So I’ll do it now.

After they thoroughly inspected their rooms the duo dressed and readied then went downstairs.

Immediately they were greeted with a pleasant surprise. Phon was sitting at a table, clearly waiting for them. She hopped up with a little squeal and rushed to give Vogh, then Talin, hugs.

“I have been trying to catch up to you all for several days now, but you have not been here at the Minstrel much at all! Have you been out rescuing other people?”

She chuckled at her little joke. It was immediately obvious to the two that Phon’s stomach was starting to swell with her pregnancy. Phon gestured to both to join her at the table and asked if they had eaten yet this morning.

The young woman went on to thank them again for saving her, and her baby, and that things had been going well since that terrible night.

“What have you been doing that’s kept you away? Master Talin, many have been disappointed in your lack of performances. When I’ve asked about you, I’ve heard complaints your music has not filled the Minstrel.” Phon smiled again at the handsome man extending him a Bard’s high compliment.

Do they both always wear their full armor when walking around town?

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
When we walk about town yes in our armor.  In the Minstrel though, we don’t.

Seeing Phon was a surprise to Vogh and to Talin.  Vogh smiled from ear to ear at the sight of the baby bump showing on Phon.

She also ribbed Talin when Phon said people were missing his music.

Perhaps Vogh and I can get some playing in tonight or another night?  With that Talin moved over to speak with the owner and ask about the schedule and mention they will be around for a week at a minimum.

Tellith, the pretty young woman with reddish-brown hair, was happy to see Talin and was very enthusiastic about him performing.

“You and the beautiful Vogh have been gone much! It’s good to see you both well and resting. I believe we might need to settle up soon as I haven’t collected any coin from you for several days. I’ll check my records, but never mind that now, we would love to have you grace our stage again. I’ve already got a young bard scheduled for tonight, but how about the morrow?”

Talin was happy to take the slot, and thanked Tellith. He made his way over to the bar area where the skinny, bald and gruff bartender Zade was hard at work with the kitchen staff. The man had an uncanny ability to remember everyone’s name and greeted Talin.

“Master Talin,” he spoke with a gruffness that was not unfriendly, but not warm either, “may I do something for you this morning?”

The bard explained he would like to order breakfast for three and pointed to the table Vogh and Phon were occupying. Zade nodded, “I’ve some good sausage links and eggs for you this morning. I’ll have them right out.”

With a smile that was not returned, Talin turned on his heel and returned to the table, informing the ladies of their coming meal.

Phon smiled and thanked him. “My my, well I am eating for two after all. Thankfully Martha has kept me busy at Saches. I’ve not walked the streets alone since that night. Got to keep the baby safe.” She gave a weak smile as she ended.

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh had been talking lightly about how she was feeling and if there were other things she felt about the baby being inside her.   Vogh had been watching Talin whom it seemed had been able to get a spot, Vogh wondered if it were today.  She watched him then head to the gruff bartender and order.

When Talin returned to the table and announced food was on the way she stated, I am hungry as well.  I may not be eating for two, but the last couple of days we didn’t exactly have any great meals.  It is good though that you are keeping busy at Saches.  A busy body is a healthy one.  It is also good to know they are keeping their word and keeping you safe.

It was only a little longer before the food came and all three were stuffing their faces with the delicious food.  So Phon, we will be staying for a while.  Was there anything you needed from us while we are around?

===========================================================
Phon
———————————————————–
“Nothing at all miss!” The woman proclaimed. “What more could I possibly ask of my rescuers. I only wish I had some way to thank you more or even compensate you in some manner. I mean no offense to offer money, money I don’t have, but I am simply so grateful for your help.” She absentmindedly rubbed her stomach as she spoke. “No ma’am. I only wanted to see you again and say thank you again.”

A young serving woman brought the three plates over and three light ales. Phon took out a single gold coin from her pouch and handed it to the young woman, giving her a silver for a tip. “Thank you miss.” The server politely replied and moved quickly to check on her other tables.

Phon waved away Vogh and Talin’s protests about her paying with the simple response, “It’s the least I can do. Truly I wish I could do far more.”

With that the young woman began to eat and thoroughly enjoy the steaming eggs and sausage.

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
It was nice to just sit and eat and talk with Phon.  The duo ordered more drinks as they continued to talk and after their plates were long bare, Vogh looked over to Talin and gave him a wink and a nod.

Talin wasn’t a slow person by any means and when he saw the signal from Vogh that she wanted to head upstairs, he said to Phon, Well Phon I think we are going to head upstairs and gather some things.  The day is still quite young and we have some things to attend to.  Please stop by tomorrow night as we will be playing on stage once more.

The young woman, who had avoided the ale in favor of milk, allowed them to finish her drink for her. She thanked each of them again before they headed upstairs, wrapping each in a strong hug. Finally Phon left the Minstrel and headed into the afternoon.

Talin and Vogh spent their time together “gathering things” and simply relaxed. Although the priest had healed Vogh of all ailments, her body was still tired from all they had experienced recently. Resting in a soft bed and relaxing felt fantastic to both the bards.

The following morning they enjoyed breakfast again and simply relaxed through the day.

post anything you want to do during the day before Talin’s performance

That night Talin had cleaned himself up considerably. He groomed his facial hair and the long hair atop his head. Dressing in fine clothes rather than armor the accomplished bard took the stage. Many ladies were excited to see this handsome man once more and crowded the tables to be closer. The crowd swelled that evening, many more women than men, as his performance went on. Tellith wore a wide smile as she hustled about along with the young serving women, trying to keep up with the packed crowd!

Later that day Vogh went to have her mithril chain repaired.  It wasn’t much, but she needed a few links repaired.

I think that is all she will do for the day.

“Hello! Hello! My name is Iltumar Shon how can I help you today? I’ve never seen you before. Are you new to the city? Have you been in the Dungeon? Have you found something you want to sell? How did you find it? Tell me everything!”

He ends slightly out of breath but clearly brimming with excitement.

Vogh shook her head at the barrage of questions. She showed Iltumar the mithral shirt with the punctured area and asked about repairing the damage.

“Oh! Hirus and Sholum can fix anything! They can certainly fix this! But this looks like it’s non-magical. Would you possibly like to sell this to us and put the money toward a magical set?”

Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh patted the air to calm the young man down.  He was quite excited to see a new face for sure.

Once he was calm she answered, I am Vogh.  I have been away from the city for about a year, but I lived here most my life.  I returned about a month or so ago to see how things are getting along.

As for the dungeon do you mean Undercity?  I haven’t come to sell anything though, for the right price, I would love a mithril breastplate.  Perhaps there is something we can arrange for a deal?

===========================================================
Narrator
———————————————————–
The boy let out a low whistle at her request, then a giggle when she said breast-plate. But he recovered quickly and nodded.

“No. No. Not the undercity. I mean the dungeons! The caverns below the city where all the delvers go. I will be a delver someday!” He puffed out his chest with pride and young enthusiasm. To her request he nodded.

“Well Miss Vogh, I might have something for you. This is an expensive piece and it’s currently locked in the brothers vault, but we’ve got an Agile Mithral Breastplate. It will be a heavy coin miss. You see, it’s a lighter construction method, but just as strong. So it doesn’t hinder you as much in a fight. I’ll have to double check but I’m certain it’s almost 5000 thrones (gold).”

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh hadn’t heard it called the dungeons, but I guess that could be the name as well.  Yes, I have been down in the dungeons.  It is not for the faint of heart that is for sure.  Have you someone training you?

When he mentioned the price of the breastplate, Vogh blew out a long whistle.  That is a lot of crowns to be sure.  Way too much for me at this time.  As I said is there some way we can work on the price though?  Perhaps some work or something?

===========================================================
Iltumar
———————————————————–
“Well miss, your armor in perfect condition would normally fetch about eleven-hundred. Since it needs some fixing I’ll have to ask the brothers, but maybe less than a thousand? That could help offset the cost of that new armor…?”

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Understand, I don’t have more than a thousand before selling the chain to you.  So that would bring me about 3 thousand short of the price you were thinking.  Which is why I asked about jobs or work or something else.

===========================================================
Iltumar
———————————————————–
Iltumar seemed genuinely disappointed when he shook his head. “By the Spire I wish I could Miss Vogh, but the brothers won’t let me sell it that cheap. And we don’t have work less you can mend armor, and they do that themselves anyhow. Ya know.”

Her perked back up at the talk of training, “Now, no one is training me. But I go watch some sword fights when I can, and I’m practicing on my own some!”

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh wore a simple pouty look to her at the mention of no lower price.

So, what would it be worth to you for some training?

===========================================================
Iltumar
———————————————————–
The young man was genuinely conflicted. Vogh could tell he desperately wanted the training, but he was clearly nothing more than an employee here.

“Oh my miss. I would love nothing more than to have some training from a real Delver! But miss, I just work here. The brothers aren’t going to take the price down for ME to get trained in fighting. I wish there was something I could do miss.”

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
I wasn’t talking about having the price lowered by training.  I was expecting a payment of some sort for the training.  I happen to have some free time for the foreseeable future and wouldn’t mind taking on a student.  Vogh said with a smile.

===========================================================
Iltumar
———————————————————–
“Oh my miss, I just don’t make that kind of coin, ya know? I’m so sorry. I’m suren you’re deserving of fine gold to train, but there’s no way I could pay someone like you to train the likes of me.” He drops his head a bit as he finishes, frustrated.

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh could see the sadness on the young boy.  He wanted to get some training but didn’t have the gold.  How about I give you some training for free?  What would you think about that?  We can go for a week and see how things go with you.  Vogh asks with a wink.

===========================================================
Iltumar
———————————————————–
Iltumar’s eyes lit up like a fireball went off in them!

“No way! You mean it?!” He was practically out of breath from the exertion of remaining calm and restraining himself from jumping up and down.

“Where do we start? When do we start? I’ve got an old sword! Oh thank you thank you thank you miss Vogh!”

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Well, the day is early.  When are you able to train every day?  Also, how long can you train?  Vogh was happy that she put this boy in such good spirits.  It warmed her heart.

Done for the night.  Have a good day!!

===========================================================
Iltumar
———————————————————–
“Well I work all day here miss. I could train of an evening after we close. Would that work for you?”

Iltumar, the teenage, human boy could not have been more excited with Vogh’s offer. He was practically bouncing up and down. Only his young boyish pride in front of so beautiful a woman kept his feet rooted in place.

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh was feeling quite happy that she could help out the young man with training.  The evening would be fine since she could have dinner and then train afterward and before Talin would go on stage.

Yes, after work would be just fine for me.  We will train for at least an hour if that works for you?

Private to GM: DATE/TIME UPDATE: It’s now been 32 days since they rescued Phon. 2nd day since they ordered from D.A. Their belts will be ready in 5 more days.

Iltumar readily agreed and thanked Vogh all the way until she exited the Armory. Out in the early afternoon light the hustle and bustle of Delver’s Square swirled around her. Two large men stepped past her with a glint in their eyes at her feminine form then entered the Bull and Bear she just left. She was used to the looks. Being a beautiful woman attracted a lot of attention.

She set off back to the Ghostly Minstrel only to be stopped half way by a crier with fliers.

“Republican Rally to be held tomorrow in front of the Administration Building in Oldtown! Come and learn how the Republicans have Ptolus citizens’ best interest at heart! What has the Empire done for us?!” He repeated his litany with various iterations. Vogh took one of the papers just to get him to leave her alone. Then young man moved on to others in line, pushing his pamphlets on anyone who got near.

Vogh had heard of this republican notion, something about a government with representatives of the people instead of those appointed, chosen or even purchased into the council seats. Igor Urnst, the Commissar, was the greatest power anyway, with his command of the City Watch. Then the Noble families had a great deal of say with their control of so much of the wealth in the city.

Her thoughts turned to the evening, and Talin, when she entered the Minstrel.

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Quite proud of herself when she left Iltumar and exited the establishment, Vogh was in her own thoughts when the two burly men gave her the look she had grown accustomed too.  She paid them no heed and went towards the Minstrel.

The crier was quite annoying as well, and VOgh took the paper reluctantly to shut the young man up.  Since she had the paper anyways, she read it quickly before crumbling it up and tossing it in a small basket along the way that was used to throw away things you didn’t want.  In her thoughts, she knew it would take more than a small group of politicians to take away the power of the Nobles.

All of her thoughts flew from her head as she entered the Minstrel to hear Talin had already begun his music.  Vogh thought to have some fun once again.  She returned back outside before she had fully even entered and gone around the corner to cast her spell.  When she came back into the Minstrel Vogh looked like a beautiful elven warrior with blonde hair.  She went to the bar and ordered an elvish wine, something she hadn’t had here to keep up the facade.  She then made her way to an open table and took a seat.

===========================================================
Narrator
———————————————————–
Talin could not help but notice the beyond beautiful and fair elf who walked into the room. He tried not to stare then subconsciously looked about the room for Vogh. His cheeks reddened a little, but he was not unfamiliar with women throwing themselves at him. Musicians, like fighters, got a lot of tail. 😉

The bard refocused and continued with his song and music.

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh caught out of the corner of her eye that Talin had indeed noticed her, he was doing a fine job of keeping himself occupied though with his music to not ogle too much her way.  Vogh let it go for now and drank her drink. It wasn’t long before she ordered a bit of food as well as she called for the waitress.  When the food came she delicately ate the half chicken she ordered and sipped her wine while watching Talin do his thing.

ONce finished she tried flirting with Talin… a lick of her lips, or a finger in the mouth here and there.  She played it cool though not trying to over do it.

===========================================================
Narrator
———————————————————–
The young man did his level best to focus on the crowd and not look the direction of the alluring elf but her movement and flirts were simply too much to ignore.

Every time she caught his eye, he had to force himself to look away and doubly focus on someone in front of him.

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh was quite pleased with how Talin was handling himself.  She was really giving him some very sexually explicit looks and the flirting was certainly easily seen, but he kept it together.  Perhaps it was time to leave, after all, it was getting late and she had someone to train.

With that Vogh left the Minstrel.  As she exited she quickly transformed back to herself and went over to meet her trainee.

===========================================================
Iltumar
———————————————————–
Iltumar was sitting on the steps of the Bear and Bull, leaning against the wooden door lightly tapping his head against it. A worn sword with several nicks leaned next to him, not even in a scabbard. The young man jumped up and waved to Vogh as he noticed her in the crowd during the twilight.

Vogh hadn’t really given any thought to WHERE they would train and she mentally started running through options as she neared the boy. Delver’s Square was far too crowded, and likely someone would mistake their sparring for a real dispute. It occurred to her there was a small path that led to a large grassy area behind St. Gustav’s Chapel and it was unlikely the Brother would complain if they were discovered.

She would need to think of another area for their next session however.

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh led Iltumar over to the church and to the back grassy area.  She began the lesson by having Iltumar show her what he had learned from anyone up to this point. Iltumar, show me what you can do.  I want to know what I have to deal with and what we can work on.

As Vogh watched the young man, Vogh paid close attention to his stance and his balance.  These things were as important in a fight as was strength and power.  BEing able to dodge an attack is sometimes more important than blocking one with your blade.

===========================================================
Narrator
———————————————————–
It was clear Iltumar had received little to no formal training. His swings showed little technique, and were straightforward. Clearly he had watched a few warriors and was trying to imitate a few things he had seen, but mostly he resembled a child at play, simply with a “real” sword instead of a wooden one.

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh watched and inside she laughed slightly.  The boy was a boy and it showed that he didn’t have the first idea of what to do with a blade in his hands.

Okay Iltumar, We have some work to do.  At least you didn’t cut yourself with that blade and kill yourself.  VOgh said with a little chuckle.  First, I want to work on your stance.  You need to have your feet at a comfortable level not too far or it roots you in place and too close will put you at risk of being knocked over too easy.  Best way to look at it is to have them at shoulder width apart.  Vogh showed him what she meant as she pulled out her blade and widened her feet.

Okay, now I just want you to hold your blade out, with a slight bend at the elbow and point at a 45-degree angle….. Vogh went through a bunch of stances to show balance. Soon it was time to stop.  I think we are done for the night.  Things you can work on at all times would be your balance.  While at work I want you to stand on 1 leg for a while.  You will be surprised at how it will help in your training.

I think for now we will stick to this spot and same time for tomorrow.  Vogh then bid farewell to Iltumar and Vogh went back to the Minstrel.

===========================================================
Narrator
———————————————————–
Dang it. Sorry for delay

Iltumar followed Vogh’s every direction, voraciously lapping up the trainer. He followed with gusto and showed a measure of improvement even after just a short hour.

When they were finished he thanked her constantly and repeatedly. “Thank you Miss Vogh! Thank You! I’ll be here tomorrow!”

Talin was already performing when she made it to the minstrel. He had certainly enjoyed being back in front of a crowd, instead of monsters trying to kill them. The young man had expressed as much to Vogh, but he also explained the thrill of a fight was something he didn’t want to leave behind.

They had accumulated a fair bit of wealth, and could live in luxury for quite a time off what they earned so far. But both knew neither would be satisfied with that for long.

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Seeing Talin up on stage performing brought another smile to Vogh’s face.  She tried to find a table that was close so that Talin could see her.

There was a table off to the side a bit, but it still afforded Vogh a decent view of Talin performing.  She called over the barmaid and ordered a light wine, unlike the elvish wine she had early.  She watched and sang along at some of the songs she knew and they had sung together before.

It was a good night as it lasted long into the night.

The next day the two woke and had breakfast then went out into the day. What do you think about going to see what jobs there might be?  I would hate to miss out on a good one.

Private to GM: DATE/TIME UPDATE: It’s now been 33 days since they rescued Phon. 3rd day since they ordered from D.A. Their belts will be ready in 4 more days.

Talin agreed, not terribly excited to be thrown into the thick of things again, but he also didn’t want Vogh to get bored. He knew she was an “on the go” kind of lady, and just hoped to keep up.

As they crossed Delver’s Square, a large area was opened up as the City Watch in their blue uniforms and polished armor were shoving away several terrible looking humans. It was obvious this small group were obviously addicted to the drug shivvel. They bore the typical signs of an addict: dark rings around bloodshot eyes, darkstained fingers and severe shakes. Talin shook his head in disgust at the humans who debased themselves to begging simply to support an addictive habit that was killing them.

The undercity was busy as always but it was a quick trip to the Delver’s Guild office and the wall of notices.

There were dozens of dozens notices on the Delver’s Guild wall. Most were too little money and no challenge to the bard duo. Many were far too difficult, like hunting a dragon?!

There was the always present Ratman Reward by Rehoboth, Emperor of the Church of Lothian.

Dularius Mul, the dark elf they had most recently completed a task for, must have someone move his posting, or even add new ones, to the list as it was always near the top.

The Delver’s Guild had their reminder for Recovery Teams

Several wanted posters were present, many with dead or alive. Three names stuck out with large rewards which they had also seen when in the City Watch building.

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE Seraphina Duststone, young female human fortune teller. 500 gold reward. Wanted for Murder. Apply at Dalengard.

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE Shilukar, Male Dark Elf Thief and Mage. 1,000 Gold Imperial Reward from House Abanar.

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE Rullus Hobb, Male Human, for crimes against the empire, including murder of a public official and animating the dead. Reward of 5,000 gold thrones for his capture or proof of his demise. Apply at Dalengard.

A few simple tasks which seemed like they might be rewarding and interesting were:

Greyson House in North Market believed haunted. Neighbors will pay for clearing.

Rumors of Blue Gnolls in Guildsman District. Blue-skinned/furred gnoll reported around the southeastern side of the district. Inquire at the Skull and Sword. Roll knowledge check about S&S

Private to GM: A priestess named Delemele Sartaris (female
human cleric4) sits dejected and sad in the Ghostly
Minstrel (or replace with another tavern or restaurant
that the PCs frequent). She even weeps at one
point. If the player characters approach her, she
invites them to sit down. She explains that she is
a priestess of Melann, Goddess of Farming, and
that she was given the duty of transporting the
blessed wafers of her deity to the fields north of
the city, where they are crumbled and scattered
upon the ground to ensure fertility.

When she arrived at the fields earlier today,
however, the wafers were missing. She feels terrible
about this, and faces severe chastisement and
probably a demotion in priestly rank. Worse still,
the farmers risk poor crops and even blight (at
least, that’s what she believes). She begs the characters
for their help.

Delemele admits that on her way out of the
city, she stopped for a time in a small tavern
called the Gatehouse Pub. This was careless of
her, but she was meeting her friend Kaela
Sparkborn (female elf bard3) there for lunch.
THE THEFT

A rival cleric named Thord Questin was recently
excommunicated from the service of Melann.
Delemele discovered that he was stealing from
church donations. Thord lost all clerical abilities
and all respect from everyone he knew. Eager for
revenge, he has stolen the wafers and plans to make
it look as if Delemele planned on selling them. In
doing so, he hopes to frame her for his own past
crimes and redeem himself in everyone’s eyes. He
paid an elf rogue named Araevil Seversong to lift
them out of her bag while she was at the pub.
Delemele knows about Thord, obviously, but she
doesn’t know that he’s relevant in this situation.

A Knowledge (local) or Gather Information check uncovers some basic facts about the Skull and Sword tavern:

The Skull and Sword is a rough tavern in the Guildsman District (DC 13).

The Back Room is an exclusive sex club in the back of the Skull and Sword (DC 25).

===========================================================
Vogh
———————————————————–
Vogh with Talin in tow went to the Delver’s guild once again.  In the undercity, they perused over the job openings board.  Vogh had seen many of the same openings as before, and even remembered the wanted posters of the people.  Vogh thought about doing that for a moment but then thought otherwise.  If they were still on the wall then they must be hard to find.

Vogh looked to Talin when she saw the one about the blue-furred gnolls.  Have you been to the Skull and Sword before?  I think I remember it from before my year away.  What do you think about checking out what this is about?
